The most recent talk comes after Macintosh investigator Ming-Chi Kuo guaranteed this week that Mac is looking at shipping a series of MacBooks at a minimum cost per year to help weaker MacBook supplies, aiming for 8-10+ million units each year.
Last month's DigiTimes report also stated that Macintosh could send out a more reasonable line of MacBooks in late 2024 to separate itself from the organization's current MacBook Air and Ace lines and help the organization with competing Chromebook models known from Google.

The new data comes from insider yeux1122, who claims on the Korean blog Navar that their production network sources have confirmed upcoming 12- and 13-inch MacBooks with minimal costs, with the latter option reportedly targeting the school space. The report further recommends that Mac should make a special effort to ship models with minimal costs, as offerings of its current iPads and MacBooks have been significantly reduced recently.
Various reports of late have also claimed that Macintosh is dealing with minimal-cost MacBooks to help its welcome PC business. One such report recently came from TF Protections examiner and prominent Mac insider Ming-Chi Kuo, who claimed that Mac is targeting sales of around 10 million units for its nearing minimum cost MacBook(s). In addition, one other report from Taiwan's DigiTimes distribution a month ago brought comparable cases. According to the report, the minimal cost MacBooks could arrive in Q2 2024 and should be positioned against the more exceptional Chromebook models.
Neither report mentioned a direct estimate, but MacRumors estimates that the MacBooks' "minimum cost" costs are estimated to be around $700 to compete with the elite-spec Chromebooks. While it's hard to say anything about pricing with almost no confirmation from various sources, the way different insiders have made comparable cases for minimal cost, MacBooks suggest that the Macintosh is likely to break something like this. Whether they will actually want to keep Chromebooks honest, however that is, is not yet clear.
